11 Secret Endings in our Election 08 Choose Your Own Adventure Video
Published Friday, October 31, 2008 at 02:00:00 PM

For the past two weeks, we've been working insanely on producing an interactive Choose Your Own Adventure video for the upcoming election. It finally went live yesterday (after Paul and I pulled a 36-hour-straight bender to get it down).

Please check it out at http://www.break.com/games/CYOElection(Break).html. If you play with it enough, you figure out that there are secret endings. And to reward people who both read 11Points and watch all of my videos on Break.com and PandaSmash.com, I'm unveiling the exclusive list of the paths to all of the endings right here.

  1. McCain and Obama at a strip club.
McCain's Attack Ad. The path is Don't Fight -> Kidnap a Swing Voter -> [Pick any of the three male photos] -> Try Again -> [Pick the female photo] -> Neither -> McCain. Then, when the screen comes up that says "The End", move your mouse northeast of the words "The End", and secret text will pop up that says "McCain's Secret Ad". Click that.

  2. Obama's Attack Ad. The path is Don't Fight -> Kidnap a Swing Voter -> [Pick any of the three male photos] -> Try Again -> [Pick the female photo] -> Neither -> Obama. Then, when the screen comes up that says "The End", move your mouse northeast of the words "The End", and secret text will pop up that says "Obama's Secret Ad". Click that.

  3. McCain Watches Break.com. The path is Don't Fight -> Kidnap a Voter -> [Pick either the girl or black guy] -> Have "The Talk" -> Obama. Then, when "The End" comes up, click on the teenager's head.

  4. At the Strip Club. The path is Don't Fight -> Go to a Titty Bar. When "The End" comes up, click on Obama's head (between the stripper's legs).

  5. The Disembodied Head of John McCain. The path is Fight -> Stop Fighting -> OK, Keep Fighting -> Punch the Suit, Then Each Other -> Obama -> Crappy One-Liner Three. Then, when "The End" comes up, click on McCain's disembodied head.

  6. No Meetings Without Pre-conditions. The path is Fight -> Keep Fighting -> Keep Fighting Even More. Then, when "The End" comes up, click on the Evil Chinese Dictator's head.

  7. The Evil Chinese Dictator, following McCain's pre-conditions.
And Those Pre-conditions Are... Follow the same path as above, and watch the secret ending by clicking on the Evil Chinese Dictator's head. Then, when the screen comes up that says "You Found A Secret Ending", click on McCain's head. (This is by far our favorite secret ending, by the way.)

  8. Obama Smokes. The path is The path is Fight -> Stop Fighting -> OK, Keep Fighting -> Punch the Suit, Then Each Other. If you move your mouse over the top right corner of the video window here (or during any of the subsequent crappy one-liners), text will appear that says "Obama Smokes?" Click on that.

  9. Fight Outtakes (including Obama mooning). The path is Fight... and then, during pretty much every scene, if you move your mouse over the top right corner of the video window, text will appear that says "Fight Outtakes." Click on that.

  10. Credits: Let's Dance! If you move the mouse over the top right corner of the video window during "Don't Fight" or any of the choices that follow it, text will appear that says "Credits: Let's Dance!" Click on that.

  11. The McCain Rap. It's not a secret ending, but I had to get this list to 11, and it's kind of an obscure ending that I want to make sure to draw attention to. Follow this path: Don't fight -> Kidnap a Swing Voter -> [Pick either the girl or black guy] -> Have "The Talk" -> McCain. That will lead to our brief John McCain rap video. Which is definitely worth a look.

11 Points is a collection of exhaustively-researched, meticulously-written, theoretically-humorous 11-item lists, covering topics ranging from TV and movies to the Internet and video games to food and dating to politics and race relations.

It's all written by Sam Greenspan, a Midwest-born, classically-trained journalist who now tries to make a dollar out of 15 cents in Los Angeles. (It's hard to be legit and still pay the rent.)
