11 Great Photos of Ironic Accidents
written by Sam Greenspan

I broke my toe last week. Compared to how I tore my ACL many years so, it was at least in a better context. (I tore my ACL playing a game for children. I broke my toe when a weight fell on my foot at the gym.)

Anyway, rather than Googling horrifying images of what my toe is going to look like once this toenail falls off, I decided to branch off in a tertiary direction and grab some photos of accidents instead. Ironic accidents, in fact. Even though my toe accident wasn't ironic. Not even Alanis ironic.

Here are 11 photos of ironic accidents. Hopefully no one got hurt too badly! Let's just pretend we know for a fact that is the case so we can enjoy with impunity.
  1. Our Goal: No Accidents.

The company's new top goal became: Move banner. (The second goal: "Find better field goal clip art that shows ball going through, not behind, uprights. The third goal: "Move forklift.")

  2. Furniture anti-tip kit.

If only they'd reinforced the anti-tip kit display with the anti-tip kit, this could've been avoided. Frankly it's just bad marketing.

  3. When decals come to life.

As far as seemingly deadly fires go, they rarely get more comical than this.

  4. Car smashes into auto parts store.

"Driver was coming in for brake fluid." Coming in a little quicker than expected, I see, which is a very rare feat for someone driving an '80s Mazda hatchback.

  5. Cessna STOP.

The plane (or pilot) took the instructions very literally. Again, we're all just doing this with the underlying assumption that no one got hurt in any of these accidents, so let's say confidently that the pilot got out after this crash, dusted himself off and chuckled at the signs.

  6. DMV accidents.

We'll call this the first way to guarantee you won't be walking out of there with your license.

And this might be an even better way.

  7. Dominos fall over.

Then we played bones, and I'm yellin' "domino." Question: Do you actually yell "domino" when you're playing dominoes, like it's bingo or Yahtzee or Marco Polo? Or was Ice Cube taking poetic license?

  8. Orange Crush.

Seeing as I don't think I've seen a vending machine with Orange Crush graphics in at least 20 years, this takes on a special level of coincidence. Or the picture's super old.

  9. PLZSTOP.

See, Minnesota: Asking nicely really doesn't get you anywhere.

  10. Safety begins with you.

Safety really ended with this guy, too. (But I'll do some blame shifting for him. Los Angeles still really doesn't know how to coexist with public transportation.)

  11. On the road to success, there are no shortcuts.

Also this actual road, it appears.
